The Big Springs Ranch for Children near Leakey was founded in 1997 as a sister campus to the Hill Country Youth Ranch in Ingram. Both campuses are dedicated to providing long-term therapeutic care and foster parenting for abused, neglected, or abandoned children from all over Texas. The ranch was a gift from the Perry family who purchased it in 1927. Miss Oma Bell Perry lived on the Ranch until her death in 2003.
